2012 is here already and if you plan to make this year the biggest money making year since starting out then finding a good evergreen niche is probably the key to doing just that.

So why not start with a 'resolution niche'?

    43thingsresolutions

In January most people make resolutions and they strive to keep them throughout the year. Resolution niches are usually niches that are based on a problem (like being overweight or smoking) or some type of pleasure or hobby (learn a sport or read more books).

These are great evergreen niches because not only do people want to start afresh with their new goal in January but they can start dieting or stop smoking at any time throughout the year. And come next year, the same resolutions will be made by more people or even the same people who made them the year before.

January is usually the biggest month for these niches because of resolutions and you're going to see big spikes in traffic if you have a site based on one of these niches.

Here are some resolution niches that are popular year after year:

    Weight Loss & Dieting

This is a big one and I'd take a guess and say it's probably the most popular. Just take a look at 43Things.com's Resolution Trends and you'll see that 'lose weight' was the top resolution nearly every year since 2007.

This is something I've noticed when looking at online trends every year as well. On Google Hot Trends there are usually a lot of searches for popular diet programs and they also pop up on other trend lists as well.

The dieting niche is a good one to get into because besides the great kick off you'd get in January from resolutions, there's lots of money to be made year round and for years and years to come. The dieting niche is also one of the biggest so find a good subniche that you can tackle that doesn't have as much competition and go from there.

    Save Money

Personal finance is another niche that's popular with resolution makers. People want to save more money. This is one of those disciplines that usually starts off well and then goes downhill so the same people are going to make the same resolution next year. Some of my friends and family will tell you this.

You can do a blog about being frugal and saving money on stuff. I haven't looked into this niche much but a little research will give you the right insights on how to approach.

    Quit Smoking

This isn't much of a surprise but quit smoking is another one of these resolutions that people want to keep really badly. They probably even smoke right up to the end of December pledging to quit once the new year kicks in.

There are lots of ways to tackle this niche from patches to natural approaches. There are also lots of products that can be reviewed in this niche also.

Make More Money / Find a Job

Another big one. Who doesn't want to make more money? It's one of the reasons you're reading this.

With 'making more money' there are different ways to do this and each of those ways is a niche market. Finding a Job is a very popular resolution also and is a way to make more money.

People may also look towards the internet to find ways of making money online or learning how to make money with _______.

This niche is just as big as the weight loss and dieting niche and there are countless approaches.

Find Love / Find a Girlfriend / Lose My Virginity

If you want an idea for what niches to get into then make sure that it's in either of these three categories: Health, Wealth and Love.

We've talked about the first two above but the love category is just as popular in resolutions. In fact, all the other niches above may just have a root in love. Maybe someone wants to lose weight so that they can be more attractive to the opposite sex, or to quit smoking because they met someone new who doesn't smoke.

These are very big niches with lots of different problem areas that can be tackled.

    What's Your Resolution?

How about you? What's your resolution going to be?

You may look no further than yourself if you really do need a niche but can't make up your mind. If you plan to make resolutions in 2012 then that may well be your niche market.

One of the things you'll here all the time in niche marketing is that when looking for keywords, you should look for those with low competition and high searches. Anything less is a waste of time.

This is all good if you're building a niche site that you want to really pull in the bucks with but there may be some missed opportunites if you always follow this train of thought.

How about those keywords that nobody even considers? Like the ones with low traffic? They're usually the same keywords that have low competition and are easiest to rank for.

I just read a post over at the Instacash Keywords blog, that shows how you can easily monetize these low traffic keywords and still make it worthwile.

    Here's an excerpt:

How could you extract maximum cash from a minimum of visitors?

One thing I’ve gotten pretty good at is buying and selling advertising
    space online in various forms.

Fact is it’s very easy to sell…(almost too easy) because everyone is looking for
easy traffic without all the SEO drama.

What if you could set up a blog and sell ad space on it within a month?

There are a tons of niches that are overlooked because of the very low level of
traffic for most all of the keywords on that niche…

One man’s trash is another man’s GOLD!!!

    Let’s take a look…

In yesterday's post where I unveiled a potential future niche, I mentioned that I was doing some research. I didn't mention where I found out about this niche however.

I found the niche while I was going through one of the pages I visit on a daily basis - What's Hot on Alexa.com.

Alexa.com is a site that measures web traffic and other metrics on different websites and then ranks them. The What's Hot page is a special page that several lists that you can use to find out what's hot on the internet.

Hot search trends are great for finding niches that you can either use to get fast and massive traffic to your website or find niches that are hot right now as well as up and coming niches.

There are three types of lists on the page and you can use any one of these or all of them in your search.

    Alexahot

    Hot Topics

The first section that lists hot topics is kinda like Google Hot Trends and lists 20 hot searches. They aren't the same as Google's because they're measured using the Alexa Toolbar but a lot of the times, you can find the same hot searches on both Google Hot Trends and Alexa.

When that happens then these topics are undeniably what's happening on the web at the moment. This is where I found the topic from yesterday and it was even on Google Hot Trends when I cross-checked it.

    Hot Products

Next are the hot products section. These are pulled from Amazon.com, who owns Alexa. These products are 10 of the hottest products in the last 5 minutes on Amazon.

In a previous post, I mentioned how finding hot products on Amazon can lead to finding hot niches. And the best thing about these are that people are already spending money on them so you can find a niche that is profitable. Even a book title can give you an idea of what's hot niche-wise.

In the Alexa graphic above, you'll see that one of the hottest products on there is the Motorola Xoom Android Tablet which seems to have dominated the hot products section throughout the entire day.

When I checked Amazon, there were 454 customer reviews and over 1500 likes (Amazon) for this Apple iPad competitor. It is definitely selling well and with a 4 star rating people seem to love this product. Ideas?

    Hot Pages

Finally, we have the hot pages around the web which are an indication of which pages are generating lots of attention (according to the Alexa toolbar). Here you'll find news items and you may not be surprised that you've heard the story before since it IS a hot topic.

I've also found stuff here that I went on to make money or get traffic from simply by posting about it on one of my sites. As with all the other results, you can always click through and get the full story on the site that is linked.

This is how I use Alexa to find hot niches that will generate traffic to your website and put money in your bank account. What's Hot on Alexa is one of the sites I mentioned in my 30 Websites to find Hot Niches article on my blog. You can read the article to find lots of other great niche finding websites and you'll never be out of ideas.

I was doing some research tonight and came across this on Google Trends. There seems to be a lot of buzz about a revolutionary new camera being introduced to the consumer market called the Lytro.

I wasn't sure how different the camera was from what's available now so I went through the site and found some info. Instead of going through it here, check out the video below.

    Kinda cool huh?

The thing about this camera is that it's one of the first of it's kind what is called light field photography. The camera isn't even being shipped until early next year.

So how is this a new niche?

I predict that people will become more interested in light field photography and everything else that comes with photography itself. There will be more products on the market such as other light field camera or what is known as plenoptic cameras, editing software etc.

I'm giving this away now because I'm not sure if I'm interested enough to want to pursue it as a niche although I'm very much interested in the technology and possibly trying one of these cameras. Maybe some lucky marketer will get on this real early and profit far into the future.

About 5 years ago I happened to come across a link to an ecourse that would forever change affiliate marketing. It was called Bum Marketing and was introduced by a brilliant guy named Travis Sago.

    Instacashlf
It was Bum Marketing that gave me the break that I needed with affiliate marketing and I eventually quit my job in 2009. This was after Travis Sago introduced me to Wealthy Affiliate.

See I was following the guy and I'm still following him because he is a model marketer. Not the guru type but the type of marketer that connects with people, gives them what they want and lets everyone including himself win.

Travis also know how to find those niches that made mad money and he knew what to look for. Hence the reason why he is a 7 figure marketer today.

He also knew what to look for in the internet marketing niche of which we are all a part of. He identified a hunger in marketers and he just know he could create a win-win situation out of it.

Finding a niche market might be easy for most people but identifying one that makes money like crazy (plus the keywords and the approach) might be kind of a mystery for some. Hence, many people struggle with the early stages of setting up an affiliate business.

If only someone would just spoon-feed them some hungry niches, then they could find the time to build their businesses in the right way while making money.

    Instacash Keywords does just that.

With a premium subscription, you get hot niches delivered to you daily and you can pick and choose which ones you want to develop and make money from. These niche packages have keywords and suggestions on how to approach the niche market.

Also packed into the subscription are monthly bonuses from Travis himself.

Some people may find that they are receiving too many niches than they can deal with and Travis also has a Lite package where you get 1 niche per week so that you have enough time to develop these.

Of course, you're not going to have time for every single niche but you'll never run out of ideas and you won't have to worry about the part of the business that says you have to dig to find hot niches. That's taken cared of.

I wrote a review of Instacash Keywords a while back and if you want to know more you can check that out. There's a cool sneak peak video on there where Travis gives away 3 hot niches totally free.

So you can either learn how to dig for niches (it's a priceless quality to have) or you can let Travis Sago find the niches for you (saves you time and makes you money while you learn).
